Ron Apgar, LPC  specializes in therapy for adults, adolescents, and children, and has served the community of Colorado Springs for 24 years. He is committed to excellence in providing services that ensure confidentiality and support, respect and integrity in an environment that is comfortable and accessible. Counseling focuses on real life experiences that often surface as personal conflict and emotional adjustment that include: depression, anxiety and trauma-based experiences (PTSD, acute stress, assaults, injuries, family of origin), self-esteem and self-confidence, identity, interpersonal, life choices and self direction, life transitions, anger and frustration, stress and relaxation skills, and creative self growth; work environment, employee/employer conflict. Vocational and career development. Couple and family interpersonal relationships, divorce, loss/grief.


The Apgar Center also provides testing and assessments for adults, adolescents, and children. We provide assessments for personality, mental health, emotional competency, depression and anxiety, anger, domestic violence, substance abuse risk, PTSD and ADD/ADHD.

Judiciary Services

The Apgar Center provides services for the judiciary (El Paso County and Teller County) as well as defense attorneys, including evaluations for:

  • Parental responsibility
  • Other evaluations specific to criminal charges

Susan Gawey Apgar, M.S., CCC-SLP,  specializes in therapy for adults, adolescents and children, and has served the community of Colorado Springs for 25 years. She is committed to providing state of the art therapy for individuals who have suffered a Mild Traumatic Brain Injury. Therapy focuses on return to work, community and school after there has been a loss.  Therapy focuses on: memory disorders, attention, speed of processing, executive function skills, making decisions and problem solving, memory compensation, technology training; family intervention and communication strategies post injury. Telepractice available for rural communities.
